Zhiyong ‘John’ Chen is a Lead SAS Programmer with Pharmerit. Dr. Chen has wide experience in SAS programming/consulting, including the preparation and validation of SAS code for real world evidence study with IMS, Truven market scan and STDM database.
His work has involved developing universal macros to deliver statistical analysis results on a set of variables for a master and derived subset data files, performing bivariate, full and backward selection GLM/LOGISTIC analysis. Prior to his position with Pharmerit, Dr. Chen was an SAS consultant with the U.S. Bureau of the Census and the Social Security Administration. He also held key positions at the National Institutes of Health and the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research as data analyst and principal investigator, working on development of stem cells and drug applications in the treatment of brain injury. Dr. Chen received his B.A. in Basic Medicine (equivalent to M.D.) from Beijing Medical University in China. He then received his PhD degree in Physiology and Neurobiology from Rutgers-The State University of New Jersey at New Brunswick. In addition to more than 20 publications, he holds a US patent (8973565) on a novel method and device to produce mild traumatic brain injury in preclinical animal studies.
