The Role

Pharmerit International is actively seeking a Business Development Team Lead. Reporting to the Executive Director of Business Development & Marketing, the Team Lead will be based in our York, UK office with the successful candidate being responsible for management and development of the Business Development team, as well as being responsible for the smooth and efficient running of Business Development processes such as completing requests for information (RFI’s), account management plans, upkeep of CRM, proposal support, capabilities presentations support, and market trend analyses. The Team Lead will support with the development of effective strategies and tactics to communicate Pharmerit’s strengths and core capabilities to new and existing clients in the pharma, biotech and medical device industries. Also, the Team Lead will be expected to identify new partnerships and to suggest opportunities to expand Pharmerit’s services. The successful candidate will support Pharmerit Directors to meet and exceed identified revenue goals through identifying and suggesting business development initiatives and making sure the Business Development department runs as efficiently as possible. Major responsibilities:

  • Continuously working with the team to improve various Business Development processes and to make them more efficient
  • Ensuring requests for proposals (RFPs) and requests for information (RFIs) are completed well and on time by actively offering support and advice
  • Direct and respond to new client inquiries and leads as generated and identified
  • Planning for conferences and follow-up to ensure Business Development strategic goals are met and maximum return on investment is realized
  • Partner with the Business Development and Marketing team to develop collateral to achieve Business Development goals
  • Support account management co-ordination between EU and US
  • Serve as internal subject matter expert for business development and sales processes for colleagues, able to support development of trainings for consultants in sales processes, CRM and account management as well as able to recommend training and resources to advance development of internal team
  • Serve as a business partner to Pharmerit’s Management Team, especially the Executive Director for Business Development and Marketing
  • Lead of internal European Business Development team (currently 3 persons; business development analyst [Europe], business development assistant [Global], junior business development manager [Germany])
  • Serve as brand ambassador for Pharmerit, actively promoting and exhibiting internal brand values and helping to communicate our differentiators in the market
  • Anticipate, identify and effectively communicate customer needs based on market activity, such as changing client ownership, new affiliations, product pipeline and competitor strengths and weaknesses in coordination with the Business Development Analyst
  • Conduct market intelligence research and communicate to the Executive Director for Business Development and Marketing in coordination with the Business Development Analyst
  • Set quarterly and annual goals/metrics to measure sales progress in partnership with senior leaders and monitor these
  • Execute business development plans, strategies and activities in alignment with Pharmerit strategic goals
  • Lead Business Development data collection and reporting internally including within CRM, ensuring workflows and information are timely and accurate and recommend best practices to optimize CRM utility
  • Regular international travel between (European) offices

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor, master’s degree in a relevant field; experience in HEOR, health services research, health policy or a related field an advantage
  • 5 plus years’ experience in Business Development; selling HEOR products and services with significant knowledge of trends and market influences an advantage
  • Documented success in managing and motivating a team
  • Primary research experience in HEOR and/or Market Access is highly preferred
  • Self-starter with proven ability in sales management, sales planning and goal setting
  • Exceptional (English) communication skills, verbal and written
  • Full proficiency with Microsoft office suite and CRM (Dynamics)
  • Strong organizational skills, superior attention to details and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to question the status quo
  • Proactive, responsive, and able to balance shifting priorities and ensuring that promises are kept, and expectations are exceeded
  • Ability to establish productive, collegial relationship with internal and external stakeholders
  • Team player
  • Foreign language proficiency, such as German, is a plus
