Pharmerit was invited by the editor of Pharmacoeconomics to apply a previously developed Markov model for oral antiplatelet therapies in the prevention of cardiovascular events to the results of recent trials: ESPRIT, CHARISMA, CAPRIE, CURE, ESPS 2, PCI-CURE, CREDO and CLARITY. The results from the modeling exercise were compared to those found in a comprehensive literature review including 21 studies. The model results were analyzed in view of the NICE guidelines for the use of oral antiplatelets for the prevention of cardiovasculare events. The methods and results of this self-funded project have been reported in a journal article.
