R is a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. R can be considered as a different implementation of S. R provides a wide variety of statistical (linear and nonlinear modelling, classical statistical tests, time-series analysis, classification, clustering, etc.) and graphical techniques, and is highly extensible. In Health Economics and Outcomes Research R can be specifically used for data extraction, data analysis and comprenhensive modelling techniques like regression analysis and survival analysis.
