Cindy Gao, PhD

Dr. Gao holds a M.S. and Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Economics and Health Policy from West Virginia University School of Pharmacy and a B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from China Pharmaceutical University.

Dr. Gao, is Director of Health Outcomes Research with Pharmerit North America LLC. Dr. Gao has more than eight years of experience in health economics consulting, previous working at PPD and Abt Associates. Her primary research interests are in the areas of evidence-based medicine, technology assessments, risk assessment and management, and outcomes research. She is experienced in preparing and submitting pharmaceutical product assessments to health technology assessment (HTA) authorities.  She has considerable experience at building market-relevant and sophisticated decision analytic models; designing and implementing prospective health economic and outcomes trial studies (e.g., developing protocol and corresponding SAP, conducting data analysis, and writing the related sections in the final study report that submitted to FDA); and conducting strategic planning and retrospective studies (e.g., systematic literature reviews and claims database analyses). Her assignments have focused on numerous therapeutic areas, including arthritis, infectious diseases (e.g., hepatitis B & C, HIV, pneumonia), oncology (e.g., renal, breast, and prostate cancers), women’s health (e.g., osteoporosis, urinary incontinence), perioperative hypothermia, sexual dysfunction, and cardiovascular disease, among many others.
