Harald Heemstra, PhD
Harald Heemstra is a senior research consultant at Pharmerit’s office in the Netherlands. In 2003, he obtained his Master’s degree in pharmacy, followed by his pharmacist (PharmD) degree in 2005. During his study, he completed a research traineeship at the Koffler Institute for Pharmacy Management, University of Toronto, Canada as well as a traineeship at Pharmerit, Rotterdam.
Harald has recently obtained his PhD degree at Utrecht University. The PhD research program aimed at identifying strategies for enhancing the development and marketing of orphan drugs. The research involved close collaboration with all stakeholders in the field of rare diseases and orphan drugs, including the Ministry of Health, and regulatory authorities in the US (FDA), the EU (EMA) and the Netherlands (CBG-MEB). Several studies were performed during internships at both the FDA and the EMA.
From 1 November 2009, he works as a senior research consultant market access at Pharmerit. Harald’s job responsibilities with Pharmerit include designing, performing, analyzing and presenting the results of projects assessing and optimizing pricing and reimbursement opportunities for innovative drugs. |
